We rehearsed our Freeze/Movement/Freeze presentations.
We will present them tomorrow. We went over the rubric as well. Can't wait! Today we learned two new techniques; Mirroring and Freeze/Movement/Freeze (F/M/F).
We will be working with a piece of text (Drama from Source) to create a short presentation using F/M/F. You are encouraged to look for the subtext in the piece. If someone says they are "...not feeling well." How many different things could that mean? I will be taking a look at your collaborative skills, so be sure to have a say in your group's artistic decisions, and be encouraging to others and their ideas. Vocabulary so far (test yourself): Subtext Tableau Pantomime Gesture Collaboration Focal Point Drama from Source Cue Critique Transition Neutral Good Monday to you!
We presented our pantomimes today. There were some pretty funny moments! I think we really need to work on using the rehearsal process effectively. Be sure to use that time to experiment and make it better! We worked more on learning names today. Unfortunately, there were many people absent.
We also began work on our first presentation!!! You will be using your collaborative skills during this process. Be sure to offer ideas, and help others to become involved. Reminders: Please bring in your Health Forms, the Allergy Alert Letter with signature, and your Writing In Role Assignment. We spent time getting to know each other today, which is always fun for me. I enjoy getting to know people!
We also started exploring the dramatic technique of Tableau: a group of people showing a frozen moment in time. In order to make a good tableau you must have the following:
Remember you have an assignment due on Monday! Shouldn't take you too long, maybe you should do it right now? Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! I think we had a good first day. We chatted...we played some games...it was good. Let me just list a few things: 1. You have an assignment that is due on Monday, Sept. 11. Please go to the Drama Tab, then go to Handouts, in order to take a look 2. We need a sound system....I will work on that. 3. Your first task during class time is learning everyone's name! Here is a little mantra:
As students, we use drama to better understand the world in which we live. As creators and performers, we strive to raise awareness and cause our audiences to think about issues, consider other viewpoints, and possibly rethink their own. |
